Community Outreach
A One Health approach - providing care at "both ends of the leash."
The K-State Community Outreach Program partners with regional organizations to provide care to people and pets with barriers to services. The goal of the program is to introduce students to access to care issues while delivering veterinary services in socioeconomically diverse settings. Program outreach activities currently include regional clinics in Manhattan, Topeka and Kansas City. Additionally, regular weekend trips are scheduled to provide wellness, medical and surgical services on partner reservations. Clinics are primarily focused on wellness exams, preventative medicine and the treatment of routine medical conditions.
Annually, over 60 students participate, over 120 clinic days, over 10,000 pet families served!
