Exotic Pets and Zoological Medicine
Welcome to the Exotic Pets and Zoological Medicine Service at the K-State Veterinary Health Center where we provide wellness care, specialized diagnostic testing, medical and surgical care and emergency medicine to our exotic companion and zoological animals. Our goal is to provide excellent, professional care to exotic pets and zoo animals. We have a dedicated staff of board-certified veterinarians specializing in exotic animals, veterinary nurses, specialty interns and fourth-year veterinary students.
Service Update: August 2025
Exotic Pets and Zoo Medicine services will be Emergency Only from Sunday, August 24 through Thursday, August 28, due to clinicians attending an annual conference. Regular services will resume Friday, August 29. Support staff will be available to answer messages and return calls during this time.

Zoological Medicine Services
We provide routine, specialty and emergency care to the 200+ animals at the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, Kansas.
Update on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza
The Zoo, Exotics, Wildlife, and Avian Medicine and Surgery (ZEWAMS) service at the Veterinary Health Center is now accepting poultry and wild bird cases on a case-by-case basis during regular business hours (8 am – 5 pm).
