Oncology Residency
The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University offers a three year residency in medical oncology, with opportunity for advanced study. The resident will participate in all aspects of the services provided by the oncology section. Enrollment in the graduate school and completion of a program of study leading to a Master of Science or PhD degree is strongly encouraged. In addition to management of VHC patients, the resident will provide clinical, didactic and laboratory instruction for veterinary students and interns, and participate in local, state, and national continuing education programs. The resident will have increasing teaching and case management responsibilities with each year of residency. Responsibilities will include night and weekend emergency back-up duties on a rotating schedule. The VHC has digital radiography, CT, MRI and a linear accelerator in use for diagnosing and treating veterinary patients.
Resident candidates are selected through the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians (AAVC) Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program (VIRMP). Information about position availability, program descriptions and forms needed to apply can be found at the VIRMP web site.
