Clinical Nutrition Internship
The Clinical Nutrition Internship at the Veterinary Health Center is a 12-month post-DVM clinical internship with an emphasis on small animal veterinary clinical nutrition and primary care. It also provides experience in educating veterinary students about clinical nutrition. The majority of time will be spent working with VHC primary care clinicians; however, there will be a few weeks spent with other clinically relevant specialty services, including ACVIM-SAIM specialists, if desired. Additionally, interns will work alongside board-certified ACVN specialists from Hill’s Pet Nutrition, who are adjunct faculty members for the CVM and consultants for nutrition-related cases. Successful completion of the internship will help prepare the individual for advancement into the ACVIM-ACVN residency program or nutrition-related industry position, and provide additional training in primary care case management.
Intern and resident candidates are selected through the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians (AAVC) Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program (VIRMP). Information about position availability, program descriptions, and forms needed to apply can be found at the VIRMP website.
